QR codes and ebooks

QR code.

Did you know that you can now access our ebooks directly from the bookshelves in the Information Centre by scanning a QR code?

What are QR codes?

QR codes are essentially bar codes for web links. Scan a QR code and it will take you directly to a webpage. They are all over the place these days – from posters, to food packaging, to newspaper adverts. We have them on shelfstands for all our ebooks.

How do I use QR codes?

If you have a smart phone or tablet, all you need to do is download a QR code reader. There are many available free of charge, downloadable through the Apple store or online. We can recommend Kaywa. Then simply scan the QR code on the ebook shelfstand in the same way you would take a photo and it will take you straight to the full-text of the ebook.
